Missionary Prep

Richard is still doing every needfull thing to get ready to leave for his mission. He has been back to the Temple, and is continuing his reading and studying.

Finals are over, so he will resume his college studies upon his return.

Also, he will be working two jobs to help save up some money until he leaves.

We've been spending a little more family-time of late as well, since we all are coming to the realization that he is actually leaving!

For the next few weeks he just needs to stay focused, minimize his distractions, have some fun, and get ready to switch gears to devote his entire self to service. As we who have been on missions know, the Adversary will try to create doubt, discouragement, and other road-blocks to impede the Lord's work. But as he prays and stays close to the Lord and comes to the realization that to serve others is to lose ones self, that can all be overcome.

Richard will make such an awesome missionary. He's engaging, personable, fun-loving, smart, witty, charming, and carries about him a great spirit which those who are seeking the truth will recognize.

Temple Trip

We took Richard through the temple on Friday. Here he is with a proud mom and proud dad. It was an awesome experience. This is a great milestone in his life and he has now participated in another saving ordinance necessary to his salvation. We are grateful for those members of our ward family who came to share that special day with us. We also ran into some other missionaries bound for Florida and Richard was excited about that. Today Richard went with some friends to the beach. With his busy work schedule he is trying to fit as much fun in as he can.

Carmel Trip

We took a mini vacation a couple of weeks ago to Carmel and Monterey. Here we are in front of the "Lone Cypress" on Pebble Beach's famous 17 Mile Drive. From left to right that's Richard's dad, Richard's mom, Richard's brother, and Richard. Richard's other brother just began his career as a long haul trucker, so we don't see him much anymore. We also went to the beach, Cannery Row, and Fisherman's Wharf. I suppose that was the last trip we'll take before Richard leaves.
